Barclays Premier League officials have released the calendar of fixtures for the forthcoming season, and the 9-month long battle for superiority in what is regarded as the best football league in the world shall begin on the 16th of August. Apart from this major trophy, there is plenty more to play for including domestic prizes like the FA cup and the Carling Cup; and Europe’s most prestigious prize at club level – the Champions league.

Barclays Premier League

Current title holders Manchester City have a fight on their hands if they are to retain the league title. The defending champions face Newcastle in their opening match on the 16th August. With many other clubs investing large amounts into the transfer market, there undoubtedly will be stiff competition for the title. Manchester United will also be looking to bounce back following an abysmal season last year.

FA Cup

This term’s FA Cup final will take place in the traditional venue, the Wembley Stadium on the 30th of May. Information about the first round of the tournament is yet to be released, however it has been confirmed that each team will receive a prize of £1,500 if they win, and this increases each round as the competition progresses. Arsenal are the current title holders after they edged past Hull in the final last term.

Champions League

There is all to play for this year in this highly competitive tournament. A draw is scheduled to take place in Switzerland and 32 of Europe’s best performing teams will know whom they will be facing in their group then. Current title holders Real Madrid have reinforced their team through securing the signatures of Colombian sensation James Rodriguez and German talisman Toni Kroos. Barcelona has also added to their megastars through investing in the services of former Liverpool forward, Luis Suarez. The competition’s final is set to take place in Berlin on the 6th June 2015.

Euro 2016 Qualifiers

England will be looking to end their heartbreaking lack of a major trophy since 1966 by attempting to win the Euro Finals in 2016. However, the Three Lions have to qualify for this tournament first by topping a group that features Switzerland, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania and San Marino. The first match of this competition starts on Sunday 7th of September.

This brilliant line-up will undeniably excite every football fan, as there will definitely be intense and gripping footballing action. Sports channels Sky Sports, ESPN and BT Sport will be screening the matches live in High Definition, which is a bonus for fans.
