TV shows get cancelled all the time. Mostly it’s blessing, but there are occasions- admittedly rather rare – when a TV show gets killed way before its time, and that’s just not right!
Here we’re going to take a look at some top TV shows that should never have received the axe -enjoy!
Hannibal
Ok, so this show was a little gruesome – alright deliciously gruesome – but that was all part of its unique charm!
Last week we received the devastating news that the third season of Hannibal – currently showing – would be its last. And so, alas it seems that Hannibal will be having his last course.
Admittedly, the show was never exactly a mass hit, but regardless, the series has still developed its own dedicated cult following.
The news has left many fans in dismay, not least because of the huge acclaim the show has garnered from audiences and critics alike. But if rumours are to be believed, there’s a slim chance that Hannibal may dine again.
Veronica Mars
Who didn’t love Veronica Mars?!
This cult TV show about a high-student , with a part time gig as a crime-solving sleuth was everything you had ever hoped for in a TV show. It had, action, drama, romance and plenty of mystery and suspense to boot. Not to mention that the character of Veronica Mars has got to be one of the best – ever!
The show got cancelled before it even got started and was axed-much to the despair of its legions of fans- after a measly 3 seasons .
The news of its untimely demise left many claiming that ‘surely this cannot be the end?!’ Luckily however, it wasn’t, well, sort of!
It turns out that this fateful final season was not to be the last we would see of Veronica. Last year we were treated to the news that Veronica was coming back , and this time she was hitting the big screen!
Veronica Mars the movie was released in March of 2014 , and whilst it was not the series reboot we had all been hoping for, it offered some small consolation at least.
Firefly
This Sci-fi series, which aired for a short period back in 2002 followed the story of the crew of the spaceship Serenity and was arguably one of the best sci-fi shows of all time.
In what can only be described as a moment of madness the FOX Network made the decision to pull the plug on the series after the production of a mere 14 episodes – only 11 of which were shown.
Fans were unsurprisingly left up in arms over the decision. And since this time we have all been left pondering what might have been.
The outcry from the series fan-base did lead to the release of a movie continuation of the series in 2005, called Serenity, but this only served to soften the blow a little.
