Some child actors often look like they have a bright future in Hollywood ahead of them, with critics and fans touting them at the next big thing. Flash forward a few years, and suddenly they are gone and never heard or seen again. So what happens to them?
Some quit acting for good, whilst some are still around…somewhere. Would you recognise these child actors today? We recently started a series that looked at some of the stars that were popular years ago but haven’t been seen in much since.
We thought we would take another look at some of these child actors that seemed to disappear from our screens without much of an explanation.
Amber Scott
You probably remember Amber Scott from the Hook movie in which she played Maggie Banning – the daughter of Peter Banning (Peter Pan). She was brilliant in the movie, providing one of the film’s most memorable moments – when she sang the beautiful When You’re Alone. She was only seven when she starred in the film but she had potential to be a star. Unfortunately, she didn’t star in anything else after Hook and last time we heard, she had graduated from university – good for her!
Mara Wilson
Mara was a huge child star in the 90s, starring in popular films such as Mrs Doubtfire, Matilda and Miracle on 34th Street. She won quite a few awards for her acting, and we really thought she would go on to be a brilliant actress. However, in 2000 she made her last appearance in anything – claiming that she wanted to focus on school. 12 years later, she admitted that she quit acting because it wasn’t any fun and didn’t give her creative freedom. She now writes books and is hoping to break into young adult novels. We’re happy she’s doing something she loves but also a little sad. She was so good in Matilda!!
Bradley Pierce
Were you a fan of Jumanji? Bradley is best known for his role as Peter Shepherd, starring alongside Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst. Apart from a role in The Borrowers, Bradley never really acted in anymore films. He became a voice star for a few years, voicing characters in Beauty and the Beast and Sonic the Hedgehog. These days he owns his own production company, and does a lot of charity work whilst raising his two children. Aw!
