Long before Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande hit our screens with their hit Disney TV Shows, there was a whole host of children’s TV shows that were extremely popular with children (and adults) in the 1990s. Many people would argue that the 90’s had some of the best children’s TV shows ever – but that’s not for us to confirm or deny!
How many 90’s TV classics can you remember? We have helped you out a little by putting together a guide to just a few of our favourites!
The Queen’s Nose (1995 -1998)
This children’s hit TV show ran initially from 1995 -1998, although it was revived in 2000 but without the main character, much to the dismay of a lot of fans. Melody Parker was a 12 year old girl who is given a magic coin, which gave her the opportunity to have 10 wishes upon rubbing it. We loved watching her as she embarked on lots of adventures – even those she got into trouble for!
It was definitely one of our favourite shows from the 90’s!
The Demon Headmaster (1996 – 1998)
Looking back on this opening theme, it doesn’t seem that scary. However, we can imagine that it was pretty spooky for children back in 1996! The Demon Headmaster was a series that was adapted from children’s books of the same name. Dinah Glass moves in with a new foster family and starts her first day at the same school as her foster brothers. She didn’t seem to fit in, and soon noticed that everyone was acting really weirdly. Did the demon headmaster have something to do with it? (YES)
This show was once that people rushed home from school to watch!
Bernard’s Watch (1997 – 2001)
Do you remember the boy with the stopwatch that could stop time? Bernard’s Watch was a children’s drama series that ran from 1997 – 2007, about a boy who had a magical pocket watch. Bernard was someone who was forever late, until he was given the watch by a postman and soon discovered that it was magic. He was told that he must not use the watch to commit crimes or hurt people – but he could use it for good and he did manage to save the day a few times.
The series was later rebooted in 2004 with a new cast and origin story – but the less said about this one the better!
Are you now suffering from 90’s nostalgia? We suggest you check back often for part two!
