Through providing our fantastic cheap TV deals we are often eager with the announcement of any new technologies within our field. The new Apple TV announcement had our whole team excited as to what it will fully be like when it is released to the public. The features of the new technology were of course announced at Apple’s Californian event but what were they, and why should you join us in our excitement?
tvOS
The Apple TV’s operating system is tvOS and is set to be extremely speedy, meaning that its users will be less likely to experience those pesky buffering pauses. As well as being fast, it promises to be more easy to use, with a swipe compatibility and remote control that enables you to get across the screen much simpler and faster than other operating systems, as well as the old Apple TV.
Voice Activated
Similar to Amazon, Apple have introduced voice activated searching with the new Apple TV, connecting through Siri. Users will be able to activate Siri at the mere touch of a button, where they will have the option of searching through media by actor, genre, age bracket, etc.
Remote Control
The new remote control sees several upgrades with regards to its functionality. The introduction of the built-in gyroscope and accelerometer allows the user to be able to operate more delicately and with greater precision, as well as allowing for the aforementioned swiping.
Siri
Siri is sure to make the Apple TV much more dynamic, with the user being able to use the voice commands to not only search for media, but to also interact with the media while it is being played. You will be able to ask Siri to rewind a scene, as well as being able to request subtitles or for information regarding the actor that is on the screen at that particular moment!
Third Party Compatibility
Developers will be able to provide third party apps specifically for the Apple TV through their store, which is a step on from the days of yore. In the past, Apple limited third party apps to applications such as Netflix or Spotify, whereas now there promises to be a greater range of choice. Equally, there is a window for the creation and use of third party hardware, such as the MFi Nimbus controller from SteelSeries.
Apple Music Compatibility
The old Apple TV had the ability stream music from Spotify and Airplay, however the new Apple tvOS looks set to feature the capacity to be able to stream users’ own Apple music. Whilst you would assume this would naturally be a feature, it is a step up from their former number and will certainly please all the users out there who would like to create their own personal radio stations, or even just simply listen to their music.
Games
As if that’s not enough, the Apple TV will also be able to play games, with the user being able to download games directly onto their Apple TV. Future games to get excited for include Rayman Legends as well as Asphalt 8 and Galaxy on Fire 3… how long before they rival XBOX or PlayStation?
We hope you’re as excited as we are, because it certainly sounds like it will not only be quite the spectacle to see people integrating with their TV in such a manner, but that it will also be a joy to use.
