The Internal Specifications

The brand new 2.4/5Ghz WiFi antennae supports 802.11ac wireless, which doesn’t necessarily sound revolutionary, but Google have reiterated that this is super step up from the former Chromecast, and will offer its users a much improved user-experience over the former. So much so, that users of the older Chromecast can expect to experience up to two to four times improved performance with the new antennae, thus resulting in less buffering and faster streaming.

As far as how it looks, the Google Chromecast looks significantly different. Once a dongle, it now boasts a HDMI adapter and comes in a range of snazzy colours; lemonade, coral and black no less. This should offer the use greater flexibility with how it can be positioned, as well as reducing the danger of it being broken by accidentally being knocked, which was a rarity, but still potentially problematic.
The App
Another improvement on the old Chromecast comes in the form of improvements to their app. While the former app served the purpose of searching for new apps and setting up the Chromecast, the new one includes improved usability features such as “fast play”. This is a feature which makes judgements as to what you would like to watch next based on your habits and even loads up the next video in the background for you to select when ready, where it loads up instantly. Pretty handy, eh?
