A New TV for The Big Day!

Historically, television sales always see an increase in the run up to Christmas.  Let’s be honest – if families must spend an imposed two or three days solid in each other’s company it is vital to have a good quality television to watch the latest special effects blockbuster on, not to mention endless comedy show Christmas specials…

But next year it is anticipated that households will be seeking their next television for an altogether different reason.  The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, which will take place on April the 29th 2010, comes complete with a national holiday and will certainly be viewed live by a significant proportion of the UK population.  Such a big event for Great Britain will not only boost the image of the country to the rest of the world, but bring friends and families together to share the ‘experience’.  It is worth noting that more than 750 million people throughout the world watched the wedding of William’s Mother and Father in 1981 and many families purchased their first TV to view the Queen’s coronation in 1953.

With a few months until the big event speculation is rife; and you can bet that marketing departments up and down the country are discussing their strategy to maximise the potential to profit from the couple’s big day!  It is very likely that the wedding will be filmed and broadcast live in full 3D.  Once this announcement is official the television industry can expect a rapid surge in sales of the latest 3D televisions.

Many families will decide that an investment in an up to date, flat panel High Definition television will be sufficient.  In the average home a Samsung 32” LCD TV is the ideal choice in terms of a reliable, high-tech television.  An LCD TV takes up very little space compared to a traditional, bulky CRT television and Samsung’s picture quality is impeccable.  Whichever TV you decide on, be sure to have the DVD, Hard Drive recorder or live pause button handy – and hope that the electricity network is ready to cope with the surge when the kettles go on after the ceremony!
