If you’re one of them crazy people who made yourself a New Year’s resolution to watch less TV in 2016, we have a feeling that you’re going to be breaking it very soon.
Taking one look at the TV shows that are lined up to be released this year, we think that 2016 is going to be pretty amazing. In fact, we’re absolutely sure that you’re not going to stick with your resolution, so you might as well give in now.
A lot of these don’t have air dates yet, so make a note of their names – you definitely don’t want to be missing them!
American Crime Story: The People vs. O. J. Simpson (TBA)
If you’re a fan of the American Horror series, you definitely don’t want to be missing their latest offering. It’s not quite the same as the shows that you’re used to – but we predict that it’s going to do just as well. The newest anthology series is set to focus on a new ‘true crime’ each season – for ten episodes.
The first season covers the infamous OJ Simpson trial. It’s from the perspective of the lawyers and shows how different factors contributed to giving the jury reasonable doubt – and we all know what the result was.
It’s an all star cast, including John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Cuba Gooding Jr as O.J and David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian. There is no air date for the UK yet, but it’s set to air in the USA in February, so it won’t be too long until it makes its way onto our screens. We can’t wait!
Lucky Man (Sky1 – 22 January 9pm)
Lucky man is the first UK television drama to be produced by comic book legend Stan Lee. Awesome right? Even if we didn’t know what it was about, we think we would be tuning in anyway.
Luckily, the premise sounds like it’s going to be a brilliant TV show. James Netbitt plays DI Harry Clayton, a police officer from London’s Murder squad. He’s feeling pretty down on his luck after his wife leaves him due to his gambling problem. He also has a crime organisation after his blood because he owes them money.
After a meeting with a mysterious woman, he is given a charm bracelet that gives good luck to those who wear it. After he starts reaping in the good luck, he soon starts to realise that there are consequences for other people…
We think it looks really good and we already have it in our diaries!
The X-Files (Channel 5 – February )
Raise your hands if you were sad when the X-Files ended back in 2002? The science fiction drama ran from 1993-2002 and had a huge cult following around the world. Although there were a few movies after it was cancelled, fans still complained that storylines were left unsolved.
This is why everyone was happy when it was announced last year that the show was to return for a miniseries in 2016. The six episode continuation of the show will bring back leads David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Mulder and Scully. The duo will be back investigating paranormal mysteries and challenging the people who don’t believe.
We can’t wait for the show to get the ending it so very much deserves!
There are so many we’re excited about, we couldn’t fit it all into one post! Keep checking back as we reveal even more TV shows to look out for.
