Top 3 TV Cliffhangers That Need Resolving

Here at Electronic World we’ve got a lot of love for a great TV cliffhanger. Whether it’s the nail biting can’t-wait-for-the-next-episode tension or the discordant feeling of an unfinished story, there have been many cliffhangers in TV history that need resolving; here are just a few of the best (or worst, depending on your point of view). There may be spoilers ahead!

1. Twin Peaks

To summarise two series of David Lynch’s madcap, terrifying supernatural murder mystery series in order to explain the cliffhangers it left us with would take far more space than this article allows. Suffice to say, in typical Lynch style, the viewer is kept guessing well after the credits roll. This one might be getting resolved soon, since the 18 episode third season is set to air sometime in 2017. ‘How’s Annie?!’

2. Game of Thrones

The big behemoth of current TV, no show has kept viewers hooked quite like HBO’s fantasy epic, Game of Thrones. And hook us they did with the ending to season six, which showed a triumphant Queen Daenerys and her dragons standing proudly at the head of an armada of ships, hellbent on conquering her homeland of Westeros. Bringing the myriad disparate story threads so close together, but not tying any of them off, was a massive tease from the show’s producers, and knowing that series creator George RR Martin hasn’t even finished writing the books yet makes the agonising wait even worse.

3. Lost

Lost was a show that famously kept its viewers, well… lost. However, it still garnered a cult following for its mind boggling open-endedness and labyrinthine plot-lines, spanning six seasons of flashbacks, flashforwards and sideways flashes. The series finale, however, was seen as a disappointment, neither confirming or rejecting any of the many fan theories about the overarching narrative of the show, the survivors of Oceanic 815 or the mysterious island they crashed on. Don’t hold your breath for closure – series creator JJ Abrams is a now a fixture in Hollywood circles and headed up the Star Trek reboots, among other movies.
