YouTube TV vs YouTube Red
YouTube Red is a version of the website without ads but with a few features such as offline video playing, which allows you to watch videos even when your phone is turned off. This subscription service gives you access to a channel called YouTube Red Originals, which has YouTube’s original shows.
Unlike YouTube TV, however, YouTube Red doesn’t have a live TV function. YouTube TV will be available by region and then expand to other areas and, hopefully, reach the UK soon. YouTube Red is planned to arrive in the UK this year, in spite of facing issues.
What Does YouTube TV Have?
Planned to have more than 40 network channels, YouTube TV will have around 10 sports channels, such as Fox Sports and ESPN, and other news channels. In direct competition with PlayStation Vue, it plans to have the channels you could watch on traditional TV.
YouTube TV has Cloud DVR storage, which is an unlimited storage service that can automatically save your favourite shows for you.It can save as many shows and programmes as you want for up to nine months, including rewinding and rewatching features. All this without using any data or space on your phone!
The service will be available on both iOS and Android, allowing you to access it from your computer, your phone, or your tablet. Google Chromecast will also allow you to stream to your television, and its eventual connection with Google Home will ease how you watch your shows.
How Does It Work?
The YouTube TV app will easily allow you to access the service through your iOS or Android phone and your browser. Throwing a video to your Chromecast and searching through its categories will be efficient, as the mobile app will have three main screens such as home, library, and live.
The home screen will be similar to YouTube’s with recently watched shows and recommendations. The library will have all of your shows that you recorded or scheduled through your Cloud DVR to be recorded, and the live screen will show you what the local networks are broadcasting.
Although not yet available in the US or anywhere else, YouTube TV is a promising service that might simplify the TV watching experience.
