Last month we answered the long-awaited question of “What is the 3D TV Best Viewing Distance”, so this month we thought we would steer away from this, and focus on gaming! Whether you are casual, or you believe yourself to be a huge gamer, this month we answer the even bigger question of “What is the Best TV For Gaming?”.
4K
True 4k gaming is becoming more and more accessible, and when we compare it with the 1080p we were previously gaming on, even PC gamers were considering the swap. While not all games can support the resolution, 4k was narrowed down to the wealthy gamer due to costly hardware. Fortunately, in a fast-paced world of technology, new graphics cards are making an appearance, making 4K gaming more viable and affordable than ever before. You may consider 4K LED TVs for their ideal capability to convey the bright and flashing colours often found in games.
While the PS4 and the Xbox One aren’t capable of 4K and the limitations of the hardware limit us, the newer PS4 Pro, the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X do, due to their different sampling methods. Luckily for all gamers, the Xbox One X coming our way soon is going to be 4K ready, so be sure to get one plugged into your 4K TV to sample the best quality gaming.
Obviously, the more pixels the better and the more detailed our graphics are on the games, the more immersed we feel, but with limits in consoles, not necessarily the TVs resolution, we are hoping that our 4K TVs are getting some gaming action sooner rather than later!
3D
While 3D gaming isn’t the most talked about tech on the gaming scene, it is utilised, and it can be pretty cool. However, there’s a lot of technical specifications, system requirements and graphic card knowledge required. You can plug PCs through HDMI to your TV and play 3D games through your 3D TV, however you can forfeit your resolution and quality of graphics for some not great quality 3D. Maybe stick to watching 3D films on your 3D TV?
Smart TV
With a Smart TV, you don’t even need a console or a connection to a PC, as many have a Smart Hub Game Panel, providing easy, family friendly games for everyone to enjoy on the big screen.
Another plus is that if you’ve got a 4K Samsung Smart TV with access to the Samsung App store, you can now stream steam games straight to your TV. Working with the Steam Controller, a wired Xbox 360 controller (for now) and a strong internet connection, we are hoping for many more controller options in the future, as well as 4K support coming soon.
Through a range of Samsung’s Smart TVs, you can connect a gaming system in the old-fashioned way, get the apps, such as Gameloft, and if you subscribe to PlayStation Now, you can even play a selection of full-on PS2 games right there with no wires or even a console! Smart TVs are designed for replacement of any over entertainment device, and when it comes to gaming it certainly does this too!
