Available 4K content is on the rise! A while back, all the owners of 4K TVs were slightly stuck with the major hurdle of a lack of content but this has steadily been improving for years. This means that a 4K TV is more of an investment than ever before. 2017 has seen a great stand for this progression but, as we are making a move into the new year, even more content will be making its way to our TVs.
One of the biggest questions in regard to this is “What new films and TV shows can I currently watch in 4K?”, which means one thing; Electronic World’s question of the month is going to cover this!
Without further ado, we have a rundown of how you can make the most of your high-tech telly and what must-watch shows will be making their way to your homes soon, or the ones that are readily available right now!
Netflix
Amongst all the online streaming platforms which you can take advantage of, Netflix has a wide variety of available 4K TV shows. There is certainly enough 4K content to keep us occupied until it picks up even more speed!
While at the moment there isn’t a dedicated section on the app for 4K content, they do give us a hand by displaying a logo on the title. Until we see a separate section on the app, you might want to know what is supported by 4K, so you can seek the content out individually. Here is a list of Electronic World’s personal favourites which are available right now:
- A Series of Unfortunate Events
Bloodline
Marvels Daredevil
Marvels Jessica Jones
Stranger Things
Marco Polo
Marvels Iron Fist
Breaking Bad
The Ridiculous 6
13 Reasons Why
Santa Clarita Diet
Yes, it’s more Netflix Originals shows that are available in 4K, which is a given as this is their own content. Let’s hope that in the future we get the gift of more blockbusters and in 4K!
Top Tip: You can also cut out all the scrolling and simply type ‘4K’ in the search box. This should bring up a full list of Netflix’s HDR ready content much quicker.
Amazon Prime
Amazon has certainly beat Netflix to the HD Party! While they may be one up on the popular streaming app, they still don’t have a huge library available and can be just as tricky to discover what is HDR-ready within the Prime Video app. Again, the best obvious sign that they provide 4K content is a small logo next to the selected titles.
In order to access the UHD content, you will need to search for 4K through the search within the service.
Here are just some titles which are available in 4k on Amazon Prime at present:
- Ex Machine
Spectre
Terminator: Genisys
First Live 4K From Space
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
There are plenty of other apps which you can take advantage of on your Smart 4K TV, including many other services which allow you to watch 4K films at the touch of the button. Apps such as Hulu, Vudu and, of course, other services such as Apple TV and the newly popular Roki or Now TV boxes, all which allow you to access a library of 4K.
