My Cart - The average student room is filling up with more advanced technology and gadgets as the market for these products changes considerably. There was a time when the room of a student would look like a pretty shabby place. If you were a student a few decades ago, your room would contain a few dog eared posters hanging from the walls and maybe a record player and a small collection if you were lucky. But the cheap electronics that have become so readily available have transformed the student room and expanded their world far beyond those four walls.
There are many gadgets and electronic accessories that are everyday items in student life these days. Games consoles, laptops, large televisions and a whole host of hand held gadgets now adorn the walls or even the floor of these dorms. And, it is a very positive thing. These gadgets have allowed students to expand their social circle and reach out to their friends and peers even when they are sitting in their room by themselves. University life works in a completely different way now with so many campus activities and university events relying on social media for awareness and organisation.
When they fly the nest, it is now possible to land comfortably on a bed of electronic gadgets. It is very easy for a student to find a cheap TV that will fit even their already stretched budget and they can afford even the large flat screens and LCD TVs that they could only dream of only 5 years ago. Combine that with a good games console and a music player and many students can cocoon themselves with a brilliant home entertainment system.
It is not all entertainment though. University and academic life are making steps to address the digital revolution and now almost every university is posting additional material or notes from all their lectures onto the student accessible intranet. Academia and entertainment have been greatly improved by electronic innovation. Even though the image of university has changed beyond recognition, it has undoubtedly become a brighter future.
