In the competitive TV market of today, every small innovation that can be made pushes a new model ahead of their competitor. There was a time, when flat screens were still very new, when that alone would be enough to convince anyone to buy them, but in electronic store you can now find plenty of incredibly thin large flat screens and in HD. Many of us have become TV experts looking at a large variety of different specifications before we make a purchase.
We look at picture quality, sound, HDMI capability, resolution and so much more before we make that studied and careful decision. One recent advance in technology is the LED lit display of new LCD TVs. You may have heard of both LCD and LED TVs, but they’re not actually entirely separate. An LED TV is just shorthand for an LCD TV that is lit be LEDs either round the side (edge lit) or behind the screen (back lit). This is just to save them constantly being referred to by the incongruous name LED LCD TVs. New technology always becomes popular and mass produced very quickly. This is excellent news because it means that despite being a modern technological advancement, it is now very easy to find a cheap LED TV to enjoy
LED lighting technology has a few advantages compared to the old florescent tubes that were used previously and this is about stopping light. Florescent tubes are always on when the monitor is on, so this means that when the image is supposed to go black, the tubes cannot produce an image of pure, deep black. LEDs, however, can go completely off and produce a darker image, giving you more contrast and making the picture sharper. With backlit LED TVs they can even turn off a group of LEDs on one part of the screen to make a sharp contrast between images which are supposed to show light and dark images together. This new technology is just another small step forwards as we slowly produce more sophisticated TVs that display a sharper more high quality image.
