Bang and Olufsen, a firm that is better known for their high end audio equipment have announced that their new LCD TV, the 40” BeoVision will soon be released in North America. Naturally, as you would expect from Band Olufsen this product carries quite a hefty price tag. Of course this will be a high quality TV delivering stunning clarity and superb picture quality, but you might be left asking is it really worth the extra cash?
There are plenty of cheap LCD TVs available that are capable of producing a very impressive picture, and there’s some speculation as to whether or not there’s any noticeable difference between a £500 TV and a £5000 one. As is often the case with very high end audio visual equipment it is only the real enthusiasts who would truly be able to appreciate the difference between a good quality piece of equipment and a super high end audiophile piece of equipment. We suspect that this might also be the case with the new Bang and Olufsen TV.
What is the point in shelling out excessive amounts of cash for a premium product such as this if you won’t be able to tell the difference between that and a supposedly lesser product. With so many high quality cheap LCD TVs available it’s surprising that anybody would consider investing in this sort of gear. However, there will always be a market for this sort of equipment, although it seems that many of the people who buy it might have more money than sense! Don’t waste money when you can buy a perfect good cheap LCD TV for a bargain price.
