3D TV, we’ve all heard the hype of the past few months as these new TV sets come closer to a UK release. They’re already available in America, and soon you too will be able to buy one. However, before you go rushing into spending a fortune on a brand new 3D set up you should consider whether it’s really worth the cost.
The pros and cons of 3D TV have been discussed at length in this blog before, but it’s worth pointing out again that 3D TV will be extremely expensive when it first becomes available and there will not be much content available. Plus, there’s a whole host of compatibility issues with Blu-Ray players and 3D capable players, then there’s the cost of additional 3D glasses as most of the TVs only come packaged with two pairs. If you found the new high definition features on most new cheap LCD TVs and the resultant compatibility issues confusing then 3D TV will be a nightmare for you.
Also, there are some speculations about the potential side effects of watching 3D TV. It’s been reported that some viewers become nauseous and experience headaches, whilst some experts have even warned against the possibility of 3D TV causing seizures. However, we believe this might have more to do with the incredible complexity and costs associated with 3D TV rather than effect of the TV itself. Our advice is that jumping on the 3D bandwagon at this early stage could cause you some serious headaches. In the meantime there are plenty of superb cheap LCD TVs available for a fraction of the price, such as bargain cheap Samsung TVs, so why not wait it out until this new technology has more support and is more affordable!
