The Sound of Music is one of those classic musicals that can be enjoyed by the whole family. But this year, ITV are giving us a real treat and bringing it to us live! Starring Kara Tointon as Maria, and a supporting cast that features names such as Julian Ovenden, Katherine Kelly and Alexander Armstrong, this is set to be a show-stopper!
Sherlock, BBC1, New Years Day
Since the shocking season 3 finale, we’ve all been waiting with bated breath for the season 4 premiere. Well, it looks like Sherlock is going to be coming back with a bang. Venture back to the roots of Sherlock Holmes into 19th century Britain and you’ll find everyone’s favourite detective as you remember him. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return to reprise their roles as the brilliant Holmes and Watson, and we can’t wait!
Downton Abbey, ITV, Christmas Day
Everybody’s favourite period drama is finally ending after five years on our screens. We’ve religiously followed the ups and downs of the Crawley family and their servants. We’ve witnessed births, marriages and deaths, but now it’s time to say goodbye to the nation’s favourite family in the last ever episode of Downton Abbey – it’s going to be a tearful Christmas!
Doctor Who, BBC1, Christmas Day
The Doctor Who Christmas special is just as iconic as The Queen’s Speech, so we expect that there will be a fair few of you tuning in on Christmas day to see what this year will bring for the Doctor. With an all-star cast featuring Matt Lucas and Greg Davies as well as the controversial return of Alex Kingston as River Song, Christmas 2015 is set to deliver an absolute corker!
