December is always an exciting time in the world of cinema as we see the release of some of the biggest movies of the year that have been held back to coincide with the festive season. So, as 2017 draws to a close, what do we have to look forward to?
The Man Who Invented Christmas – 1st December
The Man Who Invented Christmas is the joyful, humorous story of Charles Dickens as he created the story of A Christmas Carol and the iconic character of Ebenezer Scrooge. This is the perfect family film to get you into the Christmas spirit and with an all-star cast including Dan Stevens, Christopher Plummer and Jonathan Pryce, it’s sure to be a hit!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi – 15th December
The latest installation in the Star Wars universe is set to be released in time for Christmas. This time, we’ll see Rey join forces with Luke Skywalker, Leia, Finn and Poe, facing off against the villain, Kylo Ren.
Look out for a scene featuring Billie Lourd, the real-life daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, appearing alongside her mother who plays Princess Leia.
Jumanji 2: Welcome to the Jungle – 20th December
Who didn’t love the original Jumanji starring Robin Williams? This reimagining of the classic 90s film sees four high schoolers sucked into a video game version of the board game where they become the avatars they chose.
Starring Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, this is sure to be entertaining for the whole family.
Pitch Perfect 3 – 23rd December
Pitch Perfect is the incredibly successful franchise that made the world of acapella cool. The third instalment will see the Barden Bellas as they try to navigate the real world after graduation. Of course, they will be reforming to put on one last show, and we can’t wait to see the girls back together again!
Starring the likes of Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Ruby Rose, this is sure to be a popular movie this Christmas.
The Greatest Showman
This musical spectacular tells the uplifting, magical story of P.T. Barnum, the founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus. Watch the beginnings of showbusiness and how one man brought magic to life after rising from nothing.
The cast is incredible for this movie, with the likes of Hugh Jackman, Zendaya, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Rebecca Ferguson.
