My Cart - Sharp’s newly unveiled ‘Quattron’ LCD TV is capable of producing yellow in addition to the usual red, blue and green in their quest to deliver a more realistic, and aesthetically pleasing TV viewing experience.
Televisions have hitherto been manufactured to use the three primary colours in order to project 6.8 million colour variations, however, Sharpe’s patented Quattron technology can achieve 8 million colour variations, which commentators have observed significantly enhances the viewing experience. David Richards and Mendelson Tiu, who have first hand experience of the Quattron TV have commented that the new technology ‘make a significant difference with skin colours appearing richer and more realistic’.
According to many technology commentators, Plasma TVs have traditionally outperformed LCD TVs by delivering superior quality images – a deficiency which LCD TV manufacturers have tried to rectify through the incorporation of LED backlights. Richards and Tiu believe that the Quattron now outperforms many top of the range plasma TVs in terms of image quality.
Furthermore, they are keen to point out that unlike many of Sharp’s competitors who are busy outsourcing the components for their models in order to deliver cheap LCD TVs to the cosnumer, Sharpe by contrast manufacture all their components in-house; therefore consumers can have greater confidence in the durability of their purchase. Such quality, of course, attracts a premium and the Quattron is also susceptible to criticism for not delivering the same acoustic quality as that of its rivals, though this latter deficiency could easily be rectified through adding a home theatre kit to your entertainment system.
All in all, it would appear that Sharpe’s Quattron TV is an exciting addition to the television market. Whilst their competitors have been falling over themselves trying to jump on the 3D TV bandwagon, Sharpe have worked upon improving an exisitng and already firmly established technology.
