LCD Technology has advanced significantly in recent years; LCD screens are now common place and in most cases have surpassed CRT screens. LCD technology is cheap to produce and the screens offer a very clear picture. Naturally as a result the TV market has become flooded with LCD screens.
One of the greatest benefits of LCD TVs is the cost, because they are cheap to produce when compared to plasma and LED screens, the saving is passed on to the consumer, meaning that you can easily pick up a sizeable TV with an LCD screen for a great price. Leading manufacturers produce models with very large screens that can be purchased for under £500, in the days of CRT screens the cost of equally sizeable TVs would have been extremely high.
Thankfully the low manufacturing costs of LCD screens means large TVs are no longer as much of a luxury as they once were and they’re far more affordable for the majority of people. Most electronics retailers will carry an extensive selection of cheap LCD TVs, many of which will carry further discounts, particularly if they’re older models.
With technology advancing at such an alarming rate new TVs are being surpassed by superior models almost as quickly as they’re produced. Fortunately, for wily consumers this means the older models are often discounted heavily to make way for new stock. So, if you’re happy to own a TV that isn’t quite top of the line then you can easily find a bargain. However, with the rate that new TVs are being released a brand new model would be bettered within a matter of months, so why not settle for a slightly older model and save yourself some cash.
