So far in 2018, Netflix has treated us with some brilliant new and returning TV shows and films each month. In July, the highly rated ‘Anne with an E’ returned for its second season, whilst Netflix’s arguably most popular original series, Orange is the New Black, returned for its sixth season.
The trend continues in August with more fantastic TV shows and films both premiering and returning to the streaming service, and they are definitely worth giving a watch.
Here’s a look at what August has in store for us:
Returning
Better Call Saul (Season 4)
When? 7th August
Set before its more widely known sister show, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul explores the life of Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself, in not always the most orthodox of ways.
The spin-off prequel first appeared in 2015, and immediately became a hit with viewers across the world who admired the show for its in-depth look at several key characters from Breaking Bad.
Since then, there have been thirty episodes, three seasons, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Season 3 concluded with a big cliff-hanger, making the show’s fourth season highly anticipated amongst avid viewers.
Whether you have watched Breaking Bad or not, Better Call Saul is a show you can certainly enjoy. If you appreciate sublime acting and incredible TV production, get caught up on the first three seasons, so that you can indulge in what promises to be a fascinating season 4.
Season 4’s trailer may be short, but it’s intense. Give it a watch, but only if you’re fully caught up on the previous seasons, to avoid any potential minor spoilers.
Ozark (Season 2)
When? 31st August
Starring Jason Bateman, the Crime Drama looks at the story of a Chicago-based financial advisor who secretly relocates his family to the Missouri Ozarks when his dealings with a drug cartel go awry.
The show debuted last year with 10 episodes, and the first of another 10 episodes will be released on Netflix at the end of August.
Haven’t seen the show previously? There’s still over a month to catch up on season 1 in time for the season 2 release.

Futurama looked at the life of a cryogenically frozen delivery boy 3000 years in the future, and The Simpsons explored the life of a working-class family living in present day Oregon. Taking a shot at a premise involving a historical storyline, Matt Groening’s latest creation looks at the life of a hard-drinking princess in Medieval times.
Disenchantment, premiering on Netflix 17th August, has a lot to live up to, but it’s sure to be full of laughs, no matter how strange it may initially sound.
