CES is a global stage for innovation, and each year it showcases the world’s greatest technology designed and manufactured in the last 12 months. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), CES features every aspect of the tech sector. It is where the world’s biggest brands do business and meets new partners, and the sharpest innovators hit the stage.
CES 2023 was hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Centre at the beginning of the year and enabled manufacturers and giants of the tech industry to showcase some of its most outstanding developments from 2022. This year two TVs wowed the world stage with their wireless technologies. As an expert in selling discount TVs, we were excited to learn what manufacturers had to offer TVs this year and were not disappointed. We will be exploring the developments in wireless TVs and how this could make homes and offices much more efficient and clean-cut.
LG’s Wireless TV
LG is always showcasing something incredible at these shows. Last year they introduced the LG OLED evo Gallery edition, which offered a high spec of detail for the display and used the latest AI technology to bring incredible levels of colour and contrast like never before. However, they amazed the crowds this year with their Signature Wireless TV.
Ok, so it isn’t entirely wireless. You still need to provide the device energy with a power cable, but everything else that is taking up your current HDMI ports can be done through the Zero Connect Box, which can be placed anywhere in the room. The Zero Connect box is not a new concept, as many casting devices can stream content wirelessly to a TV, but nothing has the same calibre as LG’s latest technology.
Zero Connect is roughly around the size of an Xbox Series X and can be placed in an optimum position of 10m away from LGs new M series of TVs (due to be released at the end of 2023). Once paired to the TV, it can be used to plug in all your game consoles, portable streaming devices and anything else you wish to stream through on your TV. Once it collects the data from the device, Zero Connect will project audio and visuals using 4K quality and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is constantly measuring the room, which helps to prevent any interference and signal issues which could cause lag.
This device, designed explicitly for the upcoming LG TVs, can make your home look much more aesthetically pleasing and allows you to create your space in a way that suits you. It could also add significant benefits to offices, with more functionality for sharing and presenting content from laptops without drops in connection and relying on the signal strength of whichever broadband you use. However, it may not feel like an impressive device, especially when it essentially offers the same functions as our cheap TVs with smart capabilities. However, we imagine with further developments, it could be an integral part of creating a smart home and could eventually integrate into other appliances, providing a seamless set-up for consumers and businesses alike.
Displace TV
Ok, so when we think of a wireless TV, LG’s innovative new device might not be exactly what we expected. However, at CES 2023, there was a revolutionary TV which certainly fit the bill. The Diplace TV was one of the most popular showcases at the CES 2023, and for a good reason. This device offers complete wireless functionality and, as a bonus, can fix any flat surface without needing permanent mounting tools. This could be revolutionary for offices and homes and provides the ultimate interior design flexibility.
The Displace TV is 55 inches and offers a high-quality 4K OLED display. It weighs less than 20 lbs, making it ideal for mounting, and it uses Active Loop Vacuum technology to attach to any flat surface. It comes with four replaceable batteries, providing the TV with up to 30 days of usage (based on using it for up to 6 hours daily).
Another impressive component of the Displace TV is the 4K camera positioned at the top of the device. This will allow for video calling functionality (which is why we believe offices could seriously benefit from the device) whilst also being remote to the TV. That’s right, this TV has no remote and works solely on hand gestures detected by the camera installed. It can also pair with up to four other Displace TVs to provide an impressive screen of up to 220 inches, which again suits commercial buildings, advertising boards, and so much more.
This TV is not quite available to the general market for consumers just yet, unless you apply to be on their reserve list. The reviews are also not diverse enough to make a concurrent decision as to the practicalities of the TV. Still, we imagine it won’t be long before we see many other manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon with some of the TV’s incredible features.
Smart TVs – The World’s Reliable Wireless TV
Whilst all this innovation is great news for the TV industry, it could be some time before they become affordable wireless TVs for the everyday consumer. Reports of the above TVs set you back thousands of pounds. However, our selection of cheap smart TVs can be the perfect solution to reducing wires and creating a much tidier aesthetic for your home.
Most modern TVs offer smart functions that can help minimise the need for excess wires to access your favourite streaming platforms, and with the developments in the gaming industry looking to provide console-free gaming, a smart TV may even be the ideal TV for the future of wireless. We stock some of the industry’s greatest brands and TV giants, from our cheap Samsung TVs to our incredible collection of cheap OLED TVs.
