It has to be said that, without a shadow of a doubt, the past year has been a phenomenal one for the technological industry. High Dynamic Range Television Programmes
With technology becoming increasingly advanced, as has the way that we saw our favourite television programmes and films. One technology that was introduced and has become extremely popular is HDR; also known as High Dynamic Range.
This technology was traditionally used in high-performance cameras to ensure that the clarity and colour of an image are of an extremely high quality. The idea behind it is that by ensuring that the dynamic range of an image is of its highest quality, it becomes closer to looking like real life.
However, it is hard to achieve HDR in films, as the cameras that are used in filmmaking don’t have the right technology. Because of this, it wouldn’t be a surprise if film cameras had the correct technology to film using HDR, meaning that the films and television programmes that we love will look more real than ever before.
Virtual Reality Cinemas Becoming the Norm
Virtual reality has stormed onto the scene throughout 2016; it’s become so popular so quickly that you can already find virtual reality headsets readily available on the high street. Some of the most popular VR headsets available include the HTC Vive, the Samsung Gear, the Oculus Rift, and the PlayStation VR Headset that completely revolutionised the gaming industry.
In 2017, it will be the time to push virtual reality into the film industry. In the last quarter of 2016, the world’s first virtual reality cinema was introduced in Amsterdam. The types of films that are shown are specifically tailored for the technical capabilities of virtual reality, but it could be a realistic possibility that certain blockbuster films will start being filmed in virtual reality.
Because of the amazing things that were achieved this year in the technological industry, it’s hard to say precisely what could happen in the near future. Look how far we have come in the past decade! From this, anything can happen, but if any of the things mentioned were to happen in 2017, we will be very happy indeed.
