The new wonder that is the 4K television boast a resolution that is 4 times that of HD TVs. While 4K content may still be learning to walk, (Netflix and Amazon Prime Video being the main sources right now) 4K screens are becoming more popular and affordable. With all this, it’s fair to guess that 4K televisions are the future.
When you’re looking at getting a 4K television for your home, you might want to consider your room size- with 4K screens, the resolution is so pungent that you can sit closer to the screen without seeing individual pixels , so when it comes down to it, bigger is better. There’s a wide range available, from flat screens to the more immersive experience of the curved screen; and while 4K ready content isn’t exactly plentiful right now, HD content on these screens is spectacular.
We here at Electronic World offer cheap TV deals, and while these televisions aren’t what you would call cheap, they are becoming more affordable as more models are rolled out.
Panasonic TX-50CX802
This is a piece of art, offering a 50-inch screen with strong, rich detail and a lot of attention to the small things, even in the shadows. This model implements something called HDR, which allows for this high amount of detail for both bright and dark areas alike. The smart TV interface is also great and all your regular HD content looks absolutely stunning on this TV.
Sony KD-65X85
For all of you who can boast an exceptionally big room, you might consider being able to also boast an exceptionally big 4K TV. With its 65-inch screen, Sony’s beauty of a machine uses the new Android TV interface which means lots of apps! The picture quality is gorgeous, with tremendous colour accuracy, detail and clarity. The only hindrance with a flat screen this wide, you’ll need to be sitting centre on to get the best view – although if you’ve bought a 65-inch 4K TV, we have no doubt you have a sofa to match.
Phillips 50PUT6400
This model makes this list for being one of the cheapest models on the market. With a 50-inch screen and an Android TV interface, it’s amazing that a piece of kit this extensive would be so affordable! While the resolution might not be as clear cut as some of its more expensive brothers on this list, the Phillips model still has impeccable detail and contrast.
LG 55EG960V
Remember a few weeks ago , when we talked about OLED screens? Well here’s one of the finest examples of a television which uses an OLED over an LED screen. If you do remember, you’ll know that this means that this TV offers some of the best picture quality you could ever ask for, and soon there’ll be a HDR update and you know what that means. The 55-inch TV is slimmer than a model and has a curved design which is bound to turn heads, even if it’s turned off! It does however, come at a price.
Panasonic TX-50CX700
Since our last two entries have been examples of both the cheaper and the more expensive 4K TVs, here is one that drops in the middle ground. With a screen length of 50 inches, this Panasonic television offers some of the most stunning picture quality, which is rich and vibrant with colour at a reasonable price. One thing that this TV is particularly good at is upscaling your HD content, making it appear as if its 4K ready content.
The 4K television is the next step in our TV and entertainment evolution, so it can always be good to keep in mind which models you may want to take a look at next time you’re shopping around.
