What better way to make use of a quality HD TV than to host a horror movie marathon? Here, we’ll show you some of the very best horror films ever made, from the classics to modern flicks. Hold on to your popcorn!
Psycho (1960)
Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 thriller has become a classic amongst horror movie lovers. The shower stabbing scene is one that has been mimicked again and again in popular culture, and the movie will still give you tingles today. Film buffs will know that this was the first American film to show a toilet flushing on screen.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Directed and edited by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, it tells the story of three film students who have travelled to a small town to try and get footage of the Blair Witch, and who were never seen or heard from again; the film is a result of footage recovered from their film and sound equipment, discovered more than a year later. Although this film has received mixed reviews over the years, we certainly wouldn’t recommend watching it alone!
The Exorcist (1973)
Whether you have seen the film or not, everyone will know the famous scene of the girl’s head turning all the way around. Directed by William Friedkin, this film tells the story of a twelve-year-old girl who has been possessed by a demon, and her mother desperately attempts to save her by asking two priests to conduct an exorcism. It is adapted from the novel of the same name written by William Peter Blatty, which is based on a true story. This movie is definitely a must-see for horror movie lovers.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Wes Craven’s 1984 classic still causes nightmares to this very day, and was remade in 2010. It tells the terrifying tale of a cruel serial killer who kills his victims in their dreams, and the survivors who try to figure out who is behind the murders before they become victims themselves. It began a series of related films, but definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted!
