After the trial run of Ultra HD television (or 4K as it was recently known) during the Olympics, the first line of these next generation televisions has been announced for pre-order. If you are looking to stay on top of the pile for TV technology, it will cost a pretty penny though.
With LG announcing their 84” Ultra HD set at a price tag of £15,000 and a Sony model – also sized at 84” – which has not yet been announced in the UK, but has a $25,000 price tag in the US (compared to $16,000 for the LG). They are far from being affordable for everyone, the prestige of launching the new technology is more important in the hotly contested television market.
More is known about the LG 84LM960V and it will be launched in the UK at the Gadget Show Live at London’s ExCel arena between November 30th and December 2nd. The Ultra HD set offers four times the effective resolution compared to 1080p Full HD models, which is set at a staggering 3840 x 2160p resolution. Included in the box with the TV will come seven pairs of 3D glasses and the 84” TV comes with a 2.2 speaker system, integrated Wi-Fi, smart TV features and a LG magic remote.
LG say that “it’s nearly impossible to discern a single pixel, even from inches away.” Even if you are not quite prepared to spend £15,000 on an Ultra HD set and would rather settle for a cheaper smart TV, there will be plenty to see at the three day event in London this winter.
