Since its humble beginnings in the earlier part of the twentieth century, the television has really come a long way. Back when those watching the Queen’s coronation were doing so on a device which was not only heavy, but something of an eyesore, they probably never imagined how much that device would change and evolve in the years to come.
And what a drastic and rapid change it’s been – we don’t wait around like we do in other industries; for televisions, it seems continuous development is key. When we compare the televisions of yester-year with the ones we see today, it’s easy to see where the changes have been made and why. But with today’s TVs, it’s kind of hard to imagine how they could possibly develop any further.
Manufacturers are now boasting better quality of sound, better picture (with even better picture coming out in a few years), and better online connections – so, it can be a bit more difficult imagining what the future of television has in store for us 21st century lot. But considering we provide some of the best cheap TV deals, here are some of our predictions for the future of television.
Display projection
The fundamental process of a television is to display content outwards to your eyes and ears, stimulating the brain and holding its attention but on a scale which matches the screen size. However, we could look at a television which not only projects, but projects across an entire room. Your room is then transformed into your favourite show or film, moving across your room as if it was part of the scenery itself.
Part of the set
Have you heard of Oculus Rift? No? Maybe you’ve heard of the idea of virtual reality then? Of course you have. You see, Oculus Rift is a device which has moved us one step closer to the idea of fully fledged virtual reality, with some people predicting that soon, we’ll able to walk around a virtual world, just as we walk this one. That’s why we feel that in only a matter of years, you’ll be able to strap on a head set and walk amongst your favourite TV shows and interact with all your favourite characters. Wouldn’t soap operas be interesting then eh?
Portable screens
We’re going back to this display idea we have, but this time we’re thinking that maybe one day you’ll be able to watch television anywhere and everywhere. It would be incredibly similar to how you would watch things on your phone or tablet, except with a portable screen, you’ll be able to shift the size from say 42” all the way down to 6” if need be, meaning if you have to leave the room for whatever reason, you can take the television with you.
Actually, we quite like that last idea, and we’re going to keep it – so, if you see someone else promoting portable screens, you heard it here first folks!
While these may be our predictions of the future, the present televisions are very much good enough for us now.
