When we describe the cheap TV deals that we have on offer at Electronic World many people assume that there is a lack in quality or we are offering sub-par products… that couldn’t be further from the truth! Our team pride themselves on offering only the best quality televisions, combined with an unparalleled service.
We have every confidence in the products we have on offer, although being involved in the provision of televisions you get to see a plethora of issues that can arise with lower quality sets. Take dead pixels for example… these are the bane or any media lover’s life.
Turning to the Dark Side
A dead, or defective, pixel is essentially a pixel that is not performing as expected. They materialise as a dark spot on a liquid crystal display (LCD) when the pixel fails to reproduce the light level that is being asked of it as the image is ‘transferred’ to the screen. According to the ISO standard ISO 13406-2, there are three different types of pixel defects that can occur:
Dark Dot
For your standard consumer LCD set, this dark dot is caused by a transistor being stuck “on” in the transparent electrode layer. In doing this, it prevents any light reaching the RGB layer of the set.
Bright Dot
This is caused through essentially the opposite process. Through being stuck on “off”, the transistor enables all light to pass through to the RGB layer, thus creating the ‘hot pixel’.
Partial Sub-Pixel
This is caused through a manufacturing fault, whereby the RGB layer was not correctly cut when making the set.
There are few things more annoying than seeing one of your most used pieces of technology begin to deteriorate. All good things needn’t come to an end, but sometimes technology has a way of reminding you otherwise! We understand just how frustrating it can be, which is why the TV sets that we have on offer at Electronic World are of the highest quality.
