Last week saw the passing of iconic Bond villain Jaws – or rather, the actor Richard Kiel. So, with the super-spy franchise on our minds, we’re asking: Which James Bond are you?
Sean Connery
Connery’s Bond was one mean son-of-a-gun. But he did show a softer side occasionally, with some genuinely tender scenes with his Bond girls. As the original Bond, all others who followed in his Oxford brogues are measured against Connery.
If you reckon you’re a Connery, you’ll likely be a serious trailblazer, and deliver a great one-liner down the pub (over a vodka Martini, of course). Trilbies and toupees optional.
George Lazenby
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has a bad rep. Not because it’s a terrible movie – it’s really not. The trouble is that the double-oh-second James Bond, George Lazenby only starred in double-oh-one film. But he did wind up marrying Diana Rigg. Not bad for two hours of screen time and a name destined to go down in history as an answer to a pub quiz question.
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Lazenby, you’re probably a romantic, unafraid to show vulnerability. But you may also be likely to quit just as the going gets good.
Roger Moore
There’s Moore (ba-boom-tsk) to Roger Moore than just a couple of over-active eyebrows. Roger Moore’s spy was a more relaxed and humorous interpretation, bordering on campy – we’re looking at you, Octopussy. 1970’s Bond brought to the big-screen some of the most iconic moments, like the incredible underwater Lotus Esprit.
If you think you’re made from the Roger Moore mould, you’ll have a cheap pun to throw at whatever comes your way. There’s a chance you also wear safari suits, but you’re on your own with that one.
Timothy Dalton
In the new millennium, dark, brooding Bond was welcomed. But in the 80’s he was positively shunned. There’s a real sense of brutality to Dalton, that he’s driven by more than loyalty to Queen and country.
If Dalton fits your personality, being a serious sort, you’ll struggle to deliver a one-liner naturally. You’ll also struggle with authority figures, but hey, when you’ve saved the world that many times…
Pierce Brosnan
Brosnan was the first Bond of the video game generation. So his movies were very action-orientated. If you needed a job done and didn’t mind paying out excessive property damage costs, Brosnan’s Bond was your man.
If you see Brosnan in yourself, you’re not gonna go down without a fight. And there’s a chance you passed your driving test by skilfully navigating a tank around St. Petersburg.
Daniel Craig
Now here’s a man with some demons. No wonder by the time Daniel Craig became Bond he was knocking back Heineken in addition to those dry vodka Martinis. With Craig’s realistic take, for the first time 007 seemed like a person, not a caricature.
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Daniel Craig you’ll have to grunt your way through life and sport a surly expression even on your birthday.
