When choosing what type of television to go for when you are thinking about buying a new one, it is important to take into account how the different types of TV work, how efficient they are, and most importantly how much they will cost. It is not difficult to buy a TV inexpensively nowadays, though the quality and performance of the set may vary considerably depending on the type of television it is.
The three main types of television on the market at the moment are LED TVs, LCD TVs and plasma screen TVs. All of these have positive and negative attributes, so it will be up to you to decide what type to go for. LED TVs have only recently come onto the market, though the technology has been around since the 1980s. LED TVs can be described as being inferior to LCD TVs in a number of different ways, as they have poor primary colour accuracy and light reflective screens. Also, as the screen is too thin to contain an on/off button, it has to be permanently attached to a base, which is not exactly versatile. However in terms of power consumption LED TVs often prove to be far more energy efficient than LCD TVs, so there are certainly pros and cons!
LCD TVs have become significantly cheap over the years that they have been around, mainly due to their increased popularity and improvements to the technology behind them. The same cannot be said for plasma screens and LED TVs, as plasma screens look to be siphoned out of the industry soon, and the technology of LED TVs has a long way to go before becoming as accessible as LCD TVs.
