What is OLED?
We have a regularly updated stocklist including cheap OLED TVs and cheap QLED TVs. The two are easily confused but are very different technologies. OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. With a traditional LED TV, the tiny pixels in the screen are illuminated by a backlight. With OLED TVs, however, each pixel generates its own light which enables the TV to display brighter whites and darker blacks giving a much higher contrast ratio. OLED screens are also able to reproduce much more true to life colours giving you a more realistic viewing experience. Another benefit to OLED is that there’s no need for a backlight panel which means OLED TVs can be produced much thinner and lighter than their LED counterparts making them ideal for wall mounting.
