You can tell that the pages you are using are secure because a padlock symbol / key is seen in the bottom bar of your screen. You will also notice that the address in the +address bar changes from http:// to https:// (which stands for Hyper Text Transmission Protocol Secure). This indicates that the secure sockets layer stand is being used.
